Added to the other attractions at
Folly farm, the fairground buildings contain the largest traditional
'old-time' fairground housed under cover in Europe. Here, young and
'young at heart' can still enjoy rides and games that date from the
1920s to the 1950s. Everything has been visually and mechanically
restored in the traditional styles of those earlier years but also
updated to operate to modern health and safety standards.
This souvenir booklet gives background
information about fairs, including their 19th century roles as
occasions for hiring farm workers and house-servants, plus stunning
photos and descriptions of the fairground attractions at Folly farm.
It complements any visit to the unique collection and recalls
children and parents enjoying the fun, which is what a fair is all
about.
