only a small selection of the 160 photographs that can be found in the
brand new book: Kursaal
Memories: A History of Southend's Amusement Park, just published by Skelter
Publishing. The book traces the history of the park from its origins
in the late 19th century, through to the closure of the amusement park
in the 1970s, and then the eventual reopening of the buildings in the
1990s. This book is for all those who carry with them golden memories of
this wonderland by the sea, and for those who wish to find out why the
Kursaal was known by its millions of visitors as the 'One Bright Spot'.
