A unique opportunity for a knowledgeable, creative and highly motivated person to act as curator, organiser and central point of reference for a programme of exhibitions and outreach events promoting Dreamland Margate. Maximising the cultural potential of the Grade II*-listed Dreamland Cinema building, the history of seaside entertainment and the as yet under-explored, incredibly rich and vibrant, tradition of British post-War youth and street culture, the post-holder will be the central point of contact between the Project and the public, and will promote the site’s role in popular culture to the widest possible intergenerational audience. Central to the post-holder’s role will be the curatorial organisation of exhibitions in Margate, which will both illustrate the town’s key role in the development of popular culture and act as the central point of liaison thereby enabling the public to contribute towards the project. An enthusiastic ambassador with a passion for this special site, and for music and fashion in general; you will have an appropriate degree together with excellent interpersonal skills, a flair for engaging with the public and a true appreciation of the importance of popular culture.
