Written for both the layman as
well as the hardened enthusiast, this is an insight into the
development and role in society of the fairground and the people
who have travelled with the fairs. As well as being historically
correct, it is beautifully laced with personal anecdotes of the
showmen.
The author worked for many years
as a reporter for 'World's Fair', the showmen's newspaper, and
this book reveals that not only has he been a good reporter, but
he has obviously become a friend to many in the fairground
fraternity.
The photographs used to
illustrate the book are first class, many being supplied by the
showmen themselves.
