The opening of Heinrich Mack's Avalanche at the Park could not have been timed better.
It was 1988, the year of the winter Olympics and the Pleasure Beach was sponsoring the British bobsleigh team.
The ride cost 70p to ride in 1988. The Avalanche was officially opened by Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards.
Each of the trains climb 59 feet before reaching speeds of up to 46 mph along the 1,460 foot track.
