The Turtle Chase was built by the Traver Engineering Company at Beaver Falls, PA, USA in 1935 and was originally known as the Tumble Bug.
It was introduced into the Park the same year but reconstructed in 1958 taking on the Turtle Chase appearance and name.
It is now the only ride of its type left in Europe.
Other rides of this type can be found at Kennywood, Pittsburg, USA and Conneaut Lake,
PA, USA. (The turtles at Whalom Park, MA, USA are very much under threat at present as the park has been closed and efforts are being made to save it from developers).
The Blackpool cars have a somewhat dated Teenage Mutant Ninja appearance!
Actually getting on this ride can be quite difficult in more ways than one. The cars are at a very strange angle to the boarding
platform. Take your time here.
Also the entrance to the ride is concealed; most people head for the exit thinking this to be the entrance!
