Whitley
Bay's Spanish City Pleasure Buildings reopened in July 2018
following a two-year regeneration project which saw it transformed
from a derelict shell to the tourist attraction it once was. The
historic and architecturally significant Dome, built in 1910, had
stood empty for almost twenty years until North Tyneside Council
secured Heritage Lottery Funding to return it to its original
appearance.This book traces
the history of the iconic building and its legendary amusement park.
This second edition book is much
expanded on the first edition, with significantly more coverage of
the amusement park, including the Figure Eight coaster, the Virginia
Reel (including construction plans) and the mighty Corkscrew roller
coaster.
