This book
offers a reflection on over 40 years of fairground enthusiasm, in
stunning and atmospheric photographs.
The travelling fair brings an
incongruity to the established built environment. They place the
extra-ordinary amidst our everyday landscapes. Fairs such as
Ilkeston, which are still held in the centre of towns, seem to have
the amusements sown into their fabric for a few days. Some of these
images centre on the atmosphere of small details of the ride in its
surroundings, and the routines that are part of its operation and
maintenance. |
