Exceptionally rare book on the
history of Dreamland, Margate, focussing on the cinema but also
including the amusement park.
From the foreword: Over the years
many articles have been written about the Dreamland site, and its
development. The object of this book is to mark the 60th Anniversary
of the opening of the New Dreamland Cinema and Entertainment
Complex, which first opened it's [sic] doors on the 22nd March 1935.
The building as we see it today, is a tribute to the vision and
foresight of two men - John Henry Iles who today would have been
considered an entrepreneur, and Julian Rudolph Leathart FRIBA, the
architect responsible for the design.
