When Jacob Schultheis
1883 opened Gröna Lund on a dusty farm on Djurgården, he had a
single horse-drawn carousel. Today, there are several world-class
attractions that make Gröna Lund one of Sweden's most visited
tourist destinations with 1.2 million visitors a year.
The Folkets Grona Lund ("the People's
Grona Lund") tells about the eventful journey, how the Blue Train
came about and how Europe got its highest free fall ride. Also meet
characters like Texas Tom, Zulka in the Well and Dr
Finkelstein. Meet Tivoli's family of owners and experience all
they've been through in the decades - glamorous weddings and
devastating fires. The story of Gröna Lund is also the story of a
long line of world artists, including Jimi Hendrix and Bob
Marley. Follow on a breathtaking roller coaster ride through
amusement park history, follow the "People's Grona Lund". The book
contains a rich photographs, about 200 images, from the 20th century
with the emphasis on the 1950s and 1960s.
