The Great Circus Parade is a
photographic celebration of circus pageantry featuring magnificent
historic wagons, shows, live animals and their trainers — at the
famous Great Circus Parade in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It includes 200
colour plates by award-winning photographer, Tom Nebbia, text by two
leading circus experts, Herbert Clement and Dominique Jando, and an
introduction by Ben Barkin, producer of the Great Circus Parade.
Herbert Clement is a zoo director, member of the New York Academy of
Sciences, and the author of two books, Zoo Man and The Circus —
Bigger and Better Than Ever? Current works in progress are The
Capybara Book and a pictorial history, The Central Park Menagerie.
Dominique Jando is Director of the New York School for Circus Arts,
and Associate Director of the Big Apple Circus, New York. He has
been in the circus and theatre profession for over 20 years; and he
is the author of two books on the circus, Histoire Mondiale du
Cirque, Histoire Mondiale du Music Hall, and co-author of Clowns et
Farceurs. Tom Nebbia has worked for the National Geographic since
1952. His coverage of African game parks, Egypt, Greece, and more
recently China and the minorities of China, has won him numerous
awards. As well as in National Geographic, his work has appeared in
Stern, Der Spiegel and Paris-Match. Tom Nebbia has just completed,
the first book on miniature horses. He currently lives in North
Carolina.
