Arlette Gruss, guided by the faith
and love of her family, has managed to create a circus of
European reputation at the cost of living a wandering life
strewn with pitfalls, disappointment, suffering, but also
challenges, joys and success. Her saga is covered in 13 chapters
which symbolize the 13 metres in diameter of the track; a
distance that all children of the circus ring learn to travel as
perfectly as possible from an early age. Each of these steps is
sometimes a reverence, sometimes a pirouette, but always a
salute in both senses of the word. In this book, prefaced by His
Highness Prince Rainier, creator of the most beautiful circus
festival in the world, the author Jacques Godot faithfully
transcribes the oral tradition of the Circassians who constantly
update the lessons of the past, for danger and feats can only be
