Herr Randow and his wife went to
Ceylon to collect wild animals for Hagenbeck's Zoo in Hamburg. In
this book, he gives a full, fascinating account of his adventurous
life there, in which he seems to have encountered every kind of wild
creature on the island. The
teeming variety of these jungle creatures, and the almost incredible
strangeness of many of them, make every chapter of this book a
wonderful new story. Not only are there the thrills of danger as
Herr Randow encounters the most savage tigers, bears and crocodiles.
There are also the thrills of discovery as he comes cross giant
lizards, minute turtles, rare snakes, fantastic insect5s, and fish
that climb trees!
