"GET ready for some
proper Bling in Blackpool next year.
The catchphrase –
made famous by comedian Ali G – is the name of the new ride for the start of another bumper season at Blackpool Pleasure
Beach.
Bling will be a diamond-knuckle
experience for daring riders as they are lifted 100ft above the ground and spun through the air on giant gondolas.
Pleasure Beach managing
director Geoffrey Thompson sealed the £2m deal for the star-shaped sensation while attending the annual International Association
of Amusement Parks and Attractions trade convention in Orlando last month. Work on the new ride will begin in the new year
and is expected to be completed for the start of the summer season.
The dictionary definition
of the now-infamous phrase means a bold, brash, glamorous and glitzy 24-carat jewel.
And the boss of the attraction
is hoping Bling can cap off another great year for Britain's favourite tourist attraction.
Mr Thompson said: 'Bling
will be the latest exciting jewel in the crown of Blackpool Pleasure Beach's many treasures, and we are sure tickets for the
first ride will be like gold dust.'"
