In July of 1955 the
drawbridge of Sleeping
Beauty's Castle lowered
within Walt Disney's
dream theme park,
Disneyland. It is the
entry way to a charming,
whimsical land simply
known as Fantasyland.
It is here that Walt
Disney's animated
characters came to life
in the form of exciting
attractions. Children of
all ages can scour the
sky on the back of Dumbo
the Flying Elephant or
journey through Never
Land and Wonderland.
Here kids can drive
erratically with Mr
Toad, spin dizzyingly
inside a tea cup and
scream wildly on the
coaster of Matterhorn
Mountain.
In an effort to always
add to the wonderment of
Fantasyland, several
changes have bee made
through the years.
Pinocchio's Daring
Journey was added in
1983, Skyway to
Fantasyland and
Tomorrowland were closed
in 1994 and Sleeping
Beauty's Walk Through
was reopened in 2008.
Gone is the Renaissance
stone theme that resided
behind the castle's wall
and in its place is the
new Bavarian-style
village.
