Take
the ultimate walk down Memory Lane as we visit the Weston of
yesteryear. Included in this nostalgic feast are scenes recorded
after the turn of the century, showing a Band playing on the Prom.
Meanwhile, workmen are captured during the construction of the
famous Grand Pier - the focus of generations of holiday memories.
Evocative memories of post-War Weston are highlighted in unique
film shot in 1947. This rare and enchanting programme features
many of the streets and everyday images of the 1940s: originally
produced as a Royal Safety film, it gives a roving-eye view of the
town at that time.
As we move on a decade, we are greeted with vibrant colour scenes
from the '50s. The holiday season is in full-swing and the crowds
are enjoying Weston at its best. This film was produced to promote
the town in cinemas of the time and captures the era perfectly.
Continuing our journey, we swing into the '60s with delightful
sequences vividly recalling those far off days.
This video offers the viewer a unique opportunity to reflect on
the history and changing face of one of the country's most famous
and best-loved seaside towns.
